Ikea Bowl self-powered speakers.

Yet another pair of small speakers! These are looking so good… Built from a couple of Ikea bowls, using a pair of  TangBand W4-657D drivers and powered with a TPA3110 chipamp placed inside one of the cabinets. It was great fun building this pair, and frequency response is remarkably good despite their size.

CD4049-based Overdrive pedal.

Here’s the latest example of a serie of small-footprint guitar pedals I’m currently working on. This one consists of a CD4049 based overdrive, involving a two-sided pcb, miniature conductive plastic pots, some SMT components ( such as the Hex Inverter), dale resistors and Vishay MKT caps. A friend recently asked me to give his 1971 100Watt Marshall JMP ( 1959 circuit ) a facelift and add a Post PI MV.  It had never been serviced before and hadn’t been played for a while ( say 20 years or so 😀 )Everything from tubes to caps were stock and it didn’t power up. Solder fume protection.

Hey!! This is a small hint I got from some of the guys at el34world site  to avoid breathing rosin while soldering

For those like me who solder at home without much air flow inside the room , this could be a cheap and easy way to keep yourself out from the rosin fumes produced when soldering.
